Party Goods as Art
After an inspiring afternoon at the Andy Warhol exhibit, I am blown away by how simple and successful his ideas were. It is said that Mr. Warhol is most famous for blurring the lines between high and low art, between expensive items and affordable everyday goods. His theories are applicable to my line of business in numerous ways... without realizing it, I have been striving to blur the line between home entertaining and high end party planning for years! But isn't that what consumers want? Beautiful and inexpensive things that remind them of what they see on television. At the same time, if an item is designed cleverly, it can be coveted by consumers of all demographics.

Elena Kalis
I grew up with a pool in the backyard and snorkeling on vacations with my father. Fear of anything involving water was never an option. The work of Bahamian artist Elena Kalis is fiercely reminiscent of my childhood, I can almost hear the peace and silence that only comes from being totally immersed. Elena's work is bizarre in a languid and beautiful manner. Though it touches me on a personal level, (seeing how I have hosted numerous underwater tea parties myself) the light and color seems that it would have universal appeal.
